When the repair no longer makes sense
A failed engine can turn a useful vehicle into an expensive driveway problem. We consider cars, trucks, vans and SUVs with seized engines, overheating damage, timing failures, low compression, severe knocking, bad transmissions and other major mechanical problems throughout the Kansas City metro.
Share the symptoms
Tell us whether the engine starts, turns over, knocks, smokes, overheats or has been diagnosed by a repair shop.
Describe the whole vehicle
Year, make, model, mileage, body condition and missing parts can matter just as much as the engine problem.
Plan safe pickup
Let us know if it rolls and steers, has flat tires, is blocked in or sits inside a garage, behind a gate or on soft ground.
Repair it, list it or sell it as-is?
Compare the complete repair estimate with the vehicle's condition, age, mileage and how long you intend to keep it. A private listing may bring more money, but it can also require towing, repeated questions and buyers who want to inspect a vehicle that cannot be test-driven. An as-is offer gives you another number to compare before deciding.
Blown-engine vehicle questions
Straight answers before you sell
Can I sell a car with a blown engine?
Yes. We evaluate Kansas City-area vehicles with seized, knocking, overheated or otherwise failed engines. The complete vehicle, ownership, location and condition determine whether we can make an offer.
Do I need to repair or diagnose the engine first?
No. Share what the vehicle is doing, any diagnosis you already have and clear photos. You do not need to authorize another repair just to request an offer.
Will you pick up a vehicle that cannot run?
Pickup can be arranged after an offer is accepted. Tell us whether the vehicle rolls, steers, has all four wheels and can be reached safely.
